Today’s word of God

As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love.
John 15:9

We speak words of love. But the reality very often does not match our words. Life is brief, although we don’t like to dwell on it, we will not live on this earth forever. Living without love, is not living at all. If we cannot live love here in this life, how can we expect to live with Love itself in the next? If we cannot forgive and show mercy, how can we expect to receive it? If we do not live by faith, how will we grow? If we do not follow the will of God, how can we abide in His perfect love? When our life here is over, what will be remembered?

Your love is life to us. Fill us with Your love and give us the wisdom to follow after the things that are pleasing to You. Thank You for loving us; showing us mercy; giving us faith and forgiving us. We don’t deserve it but You have given it to us in abundance. Praise Your Holy name forever

personal prayer

Lord, today I am just really stressed. You know, Lord, that I am having some trouble with the test I am about to take. I know it’s probably not the biggest world problem, with people starving, people turning away from you, people in wars, and more. But, Lord, it’s what I’m facing right now, and I need you in this time. I know that no problem is too big or too small for you to handle, and I need to turn this stress over to you to help me with.

Lord, I just need to be able to focus. I need your help to look at this information so I can remember and apply it well on my exam. I need you to help me feel more confident going into the test and relax a bit so I can concentrate. Lord, please help the people around me to understand that I need to focus and study.

Also, Lord, help me when I walk into the exam. Give me the peace, when it is all said and done, to know that I walked in and did my best. I pray, Lord, for your guiding hand as I take the exam, and I ask for your welcome calm when I walk out of the classroom after.

Lord, thank you for all the blessings you have placed in my life. Thank you for being here in this time when I feel a bit overwhelmed. Thank you for always being there and allowing me to rely on you. Praise your name. Amen.

Today’s Word of God

"The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest."
(Matthew 9:38)

In today’s Gospel, Jesus hand-picked His twelve apostles for the mission of propagating His Church and proclaiming the Good News of salvation throughout the world. He empowered the twelve for this mission of proclaiming that the kingdom of heaven was at hand.

The bible tells us that everything in life has a purpose, and we are all born on earth to pursue a mission. July is the month of mission. It is the time when we meditate on our true purpose and mission in life, and appreciate the renewal of the Holy Spirit in our life.

There are three stages in our renewal: the first is conversion to a new life in Christ; the second is commitment to all His Gospel values; and the third is what we call commissioning, which is putting into reciprocal action what we have received in order to become part of God’s salvation plan. Our Lord Jesus laid out the process for mankind’s redemption when He established His Church on earth, gave us His Word in Scripture, and empowered us with the Holy Spirit. But in God’s love, Christ fulfilled only half of the Father’s plan; He left us the other half to accomplish in order to feel worthy of claiming our heavenly inheritance. His last words before He ascended into heaven were: “”Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold I am with you always, until the end of time.” (Mt.28:19-20)

We are Christ’s apostles. The word “apostle” means “one who is sent”. All of us who feel that we have been called by Christ to this renewal are also being sent to accomplish God’s purpose in our life. As renewed Christians, our ultimate goal is the kingdom of heaven, and our way to that destination is to be one with Jesus, the only Begotten Son of God. To be one with Him is to imitate His life on earth — not necessarily to be crucified — but to practice and proclaim His Good News of love, God’s mercy and salvation. We do not have to possess special skills to become Christ’s apostles. All that is required is our ‘yes!’, our willingness to be sent, and the Holy Spirit will do the rest.

As we have received, Lord God, so we must give. Come, Holy Spirit, lead us where we must be sent so that we may bring the Word of God to those who are still ‘lost’, and that Jesus’ saving grace may also come to dwell in their hearts. Amen.

Today’s Word of God

Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
-Psalm 51:10

Becoming aware of just how great God is life changing. When we truly come  to know Him and not just about Him we certainly are able to see more clearly. To  see our lack and the need we have for grace and mercy. The more we come to know  Him the more we begin to see through His eyes and heart. We see the world in a  much different light. We see a world that He loves and died for hurting and  dieing, no peace, no joy, and no love. Jesus is a gift we have received and must  share. He has the ability to transform the hardest of hearts and fill them with  love and compassion. Through Christ we change, through Christ the world is  changed, not just for a moment but lasting changes that are birthed from a  relationship with His Perfect Love. There is no other power in heaven or Earth  that can create such a change to any life. Amazing!

The Most High will give his angels charge of you.                                                 -Psalm 91:11

We pray to God who is well disposed toward us, in order that he might give an angel of peace as a companion to protect us.
